In archaeological researches carried out in Urla, where nature and history embrace, it was discovered that Limantepe Tumulus in İskele Mahallesi was a center which dates back to 4000 BC. One of the most important findings is the city harbor, which is considered to be one of the oldest known port in Aegean Sea. The ancient Klazomenai City is also located in the port area. The city became an important trade center especially in olive oil production in Antiquity.
